Garmin Tollgate Island Classic 2024 Wrap up
Another successful weekend for anglers fishing the Garmin Tollgate Island Classic at Batemans Bay .
44 boats entered with 153 male anglers , 14 female anglers , 5 junior & 1 small fry .
Tagging 81 striped marlin ,7 black marlin , 5 dolphin fish and capture of 1 striped marlin of 108 kg and 2 Dolphin fish weighing in at 12 kg each .
Teams came from the south coast area Canberra , Latrobe valley , Wollongong , Riverina and Melbourne , we even had an angler fly over from Western Australia to have a fish .
The most popular boat brand was Caribbean x 10 , Cruise Craft x 6 , Haines Hunter x 4 and Club Marine had over 50 % of the fleet insured through them with 24 boats , NRMA x 4 , Nautilus marine x 2 , Yamaha x 2 , RAC x 1 , Elders x 1 and then some insurers I hadn’t heard of ….
The winning team was team Underdog with 8 marlin a Batemans Bay club boat who also won last year , well done boys in conditions that were quiet unfavourable on Saturday . Taking the $3000 cash and $2000 Garmin voucher .
Harderatit from Bermagui came second with 7 marlin , $2000 cash & $1500 Garmin voucher .
Deep Seaductress from Ulladulla with 5 marlin , $1500 cash & $1000 Garmin voucher .
Not Reel from Canberra $1500 Compleat angler voucher .
Rogue from Bermagui $500 cash & $500 Club Marine voucher .
Champion male ; Jay Rawlings with 7 marlin on Underdog .
Champion female ; Calli Vecchi with 4 marlin 1 dolphin fish on Freedom .
Champion junior ; Keith Farrugia with his first marlin on Escape .
Meritorious catch ; Isaac Harwood another junior on Escape .
The committee thanks our loyal sponsors and supporters , without you we could not run such a successful tournament , all the feedback we received was 100% positive , with comments of a great array of prizes and raffles , friendly happy atmosphere , radio etiquette above board , and everyone appreciated the free feed and Great Northern beer served at the briefing .
